Driving licence requirements in Portugal
To be able to drive in Portugal you need to be in possession of a full valid driving licence in your country of residence. In Portugal you drive on the right hand side of the road. Seat belts are mandatory for all passengers. Children under 12 years and under 1.50 m are not allowed to travel in the front seat of a car unless there is a special child restraint system fitted and adapted to their size or unless the car only has front seats.
